Περίληψη
The aim of the present thesis was the investigation of the stress triggering sensitivity due to the seismic slip of strong earthquakes by detailing the stress pattern in targeted areas of the central Ionian. In the first chapter, the seismotectonic regime of the study area is described and information is given on the historical and instrumental seismicity of the area. The second chapter describes the basic principles of the methodology used for the stress inversions and the Coulomb stress change calculations. In the third chapter, the results of the inversions are presented as well as the results from the calculations of the Coulomb stress changes with a simultaneous investigation for the stress triggering in each of the sub-regions of the study area. In the final chapter, the conclusions of this thesis are recorded on the stress inversions in the area as well as the evidence of stress triggering due to Coulomb stress transfer.
