Αμιαντόμορφα ορυκτά = Asbestiform minerals.
Περίληψη
This specific diploma thesis concerns the study of asbestos minerals and their detection in the natural environment. Asbestos minerals are natural fibrous minerals that have been used for centuries in various industrial applications due to their unique physical properties such as resistance to heat, fire and chemical degradation. However, exposure to asbestos fibers has been linked to several serious health conditions, including lung cancer, mesothelioma and asbestosis. As a result, many countries have banned the use of asbestos or heavily regulated its use to protect public health. Despite these regulations, asbestos is still present in many older buildings, posing a hazard to workers and occupants. Asbestos mining and processing also pose a significant health risk to workers in these industries. Continued research into the risks of asbestos exposure and efforts to manage and remove asbestos from the built environment are vital to protecting public health.
