Αξιολόγηση κλιματικών προσομοιώσεων κλιματικών μοντέλων για την περιοχή της Ευρώπης για την περίοδο 1990-2008
Περίληψη
In this study, six regional climate simulations, performed for the region of Europe and for the period 1990-2008 as part of the EURO-CORDEX, are evaluated with respect to temperature and precipitation. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the degree to which the characteristics of past climate are reproduced, to highlight systematic errors and to assess the extent of uncertainty in the simulations. Results indicate that temperature is underestimated in Winter and Spring by all models with an average Bias of -0.6οC. In Summer there is a prominent positive temperature Bias in southern and southeastern Europe, as well as an apparent overestimation of the standard deviation of the average temperature. For all of the seasons the temporal correlation of the simulated temperature with the observations is very high. Regarding precipitation results indicate that the majority of the models are wet throughout the year, but this phenomenon is more intense in Spring where the average Bias is 30%. In Spring an apparent overestimation of the standard deviation of precipitation is also detected. In general, temporal correlation with observational data is way better for simulated temperature than precipitation. Furthermore, regarding precipitation, temporal correlation is much higher in Winter than in Summer, indicating the different mechanisms responsible for the climate in these two seasons. Finally for both temperatute and precipitation the CCLM4 model consistently shows the smallest absolute Bias and presents the best temporal comparison with the observational data whereas in most cases the sub-region that has the largest absolute Bias is the Alps.
