Περίληψη


White stone or magnesite has the chemical formula MgCO3 and appears in two forms, cryptocrystalline and crystalline. It is one of the most important minerals of magnesium and the products of its processing include caustic and bifired magnesia which are used in many fields such as agriculture and glassmaking. At the global level, the countries China, Turkey, Brazil and Russia show the largest production of white stones, while the innovation of the USA in the production of magnesite from sea water is noteworthy. On the other hand, the Greek white stone deposits are vein-shaped and are usually found in ophiolite complexes with three horizons, one lower, one intermediate and one upper. Large deposits in the Greek land are placed mainly in Chalkidiki with its homonymous ophiolite complex as well as in Evia. Greece has significantly developed the production of white stones in recent years, a decisive factor in this development has been the continuous progress and development of the Greek company GRECIAN MAGNESITE which holds the monopoly in the production of magnesite in the country and is the largest in exports pan-European. Finally, it is worth mentioning that Greece has great prospects for increasing magnesite production in the coming decade. white stones
