Γεωφυσική διασκοπήση για τον εντοπισμό πιθανών εγκοίλων στη περιοχή ανέγερσης της πανεπιστημιούπολης δυτικής μακεδονίας.

Περίληψη

This report was completed based on the findings of the research for geological adequacy of a specific area where is planned the construction of the new university campus of the Western Macedonia University. Specifically, even though the geology of the area is composed by limestones, which they represent a very good geotechnical behavior, there is always the danger of possible sinkholes that can cause problems on the foundations of the buildings. During the establishment of the foundations the engineers found out that there were sinkholes in the area, so a further research about the size and the level of danger that they can cause on the foundations. For the research it was chosen a geophysical method, because of the low cost of it and very high level of results. More specifically there were completed 10 parallel electrical profiles, of 36m. long each one and 1,5m. distance between them.With the use of the parallel electrical topographies we were able to have a look on the properties of the geological formations beneath the soil. After the analysis of the results there was clear that even though there are sinkholes at the area there are not in such a big size to be hazardous for the foundation of the building.
