Περίληψη


Το θέμα της εργασία αυτής είναι η κατανομή των παραμέτρων σεισμικότητας  σε σεισμογενείς περιοχές. Ως περιοχή μελέτης επιλέχθηκε η Νότια Αμερική, καθώς αποτελεί πρότυπο περιοχής μελέτης λόγω της σεισμικότητας που παρουσιάζει αλλά και γενικότερα της τεκτονικής της.      
    Στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο που αφορά την εισαγωγή δίνονται οι βασικές έννοιες και οι ορισμοί που σχετίζονται με το θέμα, παρουσιάζονται στοιχεία για την τεκτονική των λιθοσφαιρικών πλακών και την παγκόσμια τεκτονική, ενώ γίνεται εκτενής αναφορά στο σεισμοτεκτονικό πεδίο της Νότιας Αμερικής, καθώς και στην τεκτονική συμπεριφορά της πλάκας Ναζκα σε σχέση με την Νότια Αμερική. Τέλος, αναφέρονται ορισμένα από τα ευρέως χρησιμοποιούμενα μέτρα σεισμικότητας. Στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο αναφέρονται τα δεδομένα παρατήρησης (σεισμοί), περιγράφεται ο τρόπος επεξεργασίας τους και παρουσιάζονται οι δύο μεθοδολογίες οι οποίες χρησιμοποιήθηκαν για τον υπολογισμό των παραμέτρων σεισμικότητας της περιοχής μελέτης. Το τρίτο κεφάλαιο αφορά την κατανομή της συχνότητας των μεγεθών, ενώ περιγράφεται και η σχέση Gutenberg-Richter. Επίσης παρουσιάζονται οι απόψεις διάφορων ερευνητών σχετικά με την κατανομή της συχνότητας των μεγεθών. Στο τέταρτο κεφάλαιο αρχικά, παρουσιάζονται οι χάρτες των ζωνών (κυψελών) στις οποίες χωρίσαμε την περιοχή μελέτης και δίνονται οι πίνακες που περιέχουν τις απαραίτητες πληροφορίες για κάθε κυψέλη. Στην συνέχεια, θεωρώντας ως μέτρο σεισμικότητας την μέση περίοδο επανάληψης σεισμών, με την χρήση των μεθόδων μέσης τιμής και μέγιστης πιθανοφάνειας, υπολογίζονται οι παράμετροι a1 και b της σχέσης Gutenberg-Richter και δίνεται ο αντίστοιχος πίνακας τιμών κάθε κυψέλης, καθώς και τα αντίστοιχα διαγράμματα. Τέλος στο κεφάλαιο 5 συνοψίζονται τα γενικά συμπεράσματα που προέκυψαν από αυτήν την εργασία.

The aim of this paper is the distribution of seismicity parameters in seismogenic areas. South America was chosen as the study area, as it is a model study  area due to the seismicity it presents and also its tectonics.
    In the first chapter, the basic concepts and definitions related to the subject are given, elements of lithospheric plates tectonics and global tectonics are presented and an extensive reference to the seismotectonic field of South America is made, as well as to the tectonic behavior of Nazca plate in relation to South America. Finally some of the widely used measures of seismicity are listed. In the second chapter, the observational data (earthquakes) are mentioned, their processing method is described and the two methodologies used to calculate the seismicity parameters of the study area are presented. The third chapter refers to the distribution of the frequency of sizes, and Gutenberg-Richter law is presented. Also, opinions of various researchers on the above topic are presented. In the fourth chapter, the maps of the zones (cells) into which we divided the study area are presented and the tables containing the necessary information for each cell are given. Then, using as measure of seismicity the average recurrence period of earthquakes, and using the mean value and maximum likelihood methods, the parameters a1 and b of the Gutenberg-Richter relation are calculated and the corresponding table of values  of each cell is given, as well as the corresponding diagrams. Finally, chapter five summarizes the general conclusions drawn from this paper.
